THE WINEMAKER: Bordeaux is an iconic wine growing region with many of the vineyards stretch back to the Middle Ages, with vines stitched deeply into the fabric of the land. Château Massereau, located on the Garonne River in the town of Barsac, is one such piece of history. Built in the 16th Century, the château was taken over by the Chaigneau family in 2000. Though natural winemaking is still rare in a place so steeped in tradition, more winemakers, like the Chaigneau family, are highlighting natural winemaking and making the argument that it is inherently a return to tradition. They dry farm their Bordeaux varietals, and are known for their light reds and sweet whites.  They believe in aging their wines before releasing, so this 2010 is actually their current vintage. You can feel the history in this velvety, classic wine.
