Cidre de Fer, Cidrerie du Vulcan "Extra Dry Swiss Cider"
Cidrerie du Vulcan, Cidre de Fer, 2020
The Cider: This cider is extra dry, meaning it is a bit sweeter than the Transparente cider we have in the shop. It tastes of sweet, fresh apples, cool mountain air, glacial streams, and if you put your ear to the bottle, you can actually hear a yodel!
The Winemaker: Jacques Perritaz is the mastermind behind Cidrerie du Vulcan, located in Fribourg, Switzerland. We had the honor of meeting this lovely man at a recent wine fair and his ciders completely blew us away. He is certified organic and only works with ancient and rare Swiss apple varieties. His orchards are all untreated and dry-farmed and some of his trees are up to 200 years old.The Place: Fribourg, Switzerland
The Apple: Bohnapfel (an old german variety from the late 19th century)
Organic / Cider / Unfined / Lightly Filtered / ABV 7.1%
