Tout Blanc "Alsatian Smooth Honeysuckle"
Domaine Rietsch, Tout Blanc, 2019
The Wine: Cold weather notes and hints of fall begin to spill out of the bottle as soon as it is de-corked. Pear, apple, and late summer peach with a hint of honeysuckle. The taste is slightly more mineral - clay and limestone notes - given to it by the soil. A texture almost like satin coats your tongue...truly fantastic...a taste of luxury and comfort.
The Winemaker: Domaine Riestsch is a seventh generation farm lying just south of Strasbourg. Jean-Pierre Riestch's parents converted the farm to vineyards in the 70's, and he took over in '87. He was one of the earliest to start experimenting with skin contact wines in the Alsace area. This wine is a beautiful expression of what Alsace is, and what it can be.
The Place: Alsace, France
