Château Massereau, Clairet, 2019

The Wine: Clairet is a deep-hued rosé wine made primarily in Bordeaux.  The characteristic smell is typically light and juicy, with a distinctively dry, tannic taste. It is THE traditional wine made in Bordeaux dating back to the Middle Ages, when winemakers only let the wine ferment with the skins for a few days. It was (and still is) meant to be consumed young, within 1-2 years of the vintage.

The Winemaker: Made at Château Masserau, located on the Garonne River in the town of Barsac, southwest of Bordeaux. Built in the 16th Century, the château was taken over by the Chaigneau family in 2000.

The Place: Bordeaux, France

The Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot

Dry-Farmed / 12.5%
